Australian consumer law affects the purchase of goods or services. If you are a consumer or trader, then you are under the governance of Australian consumer law. For example, if you purchased a fridge that does not work and the seller won’t give you a refund or replace it, then you go to VCAT under the Civil List.

Australian consumer law is also an alternative argument for many other issues under the civil division and used when your representative advises the primary legal argument may need support by claims of a breach of consumer law.
